Edge case

Who gets credit

The sheet cannot decide who worked the deal. A manager decides that before the file reaches finance: the share, whether it splits credit or the check, and what happens to an account nobody owns. Credit split changes attainment. Commission split changes the check. Doing both by accident pays the deal twice. CompDay records the split. It does not settle the argument.

Split the right thing

Credit split changes attainment. Commission split changes the check. Doing both by accident double-applies the share. Write which one the plan means before the deal is entered.

An overlay is not a third share of the same deal

An overlay manager is paid on someone else’s credit. That amount is not also one of the rep shares. If the shares plus the overlay exceed the deal, the sheet has counted the deal twice.

A refund after payroll is a line on the next cycle. That handoff is on the payroll page.

Three rows worth testing

The complexity checker builds a synthetic matrix for these options. The dollars are a $10,000 example, not a payout.
